HRH Crown Prince Moulay Rachid promotes peace and cooperation through Scout Movement

Rabat, July 10, 2008 -- Preparing young people to be leaders of tomorrow, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay Rachid, President of Moroccan Scouting Federation inaugurated the third International Scout Friendship Meeting, held in Morocco from July 10th to 25th 2008.

In line with Crown Prince Moulay Rachid mission to promote regional cooperation, the Friendship Meeting aims to create a youth movement to encourage person to person contact for peace, progress and regional development.

Crown Prince Moulay Rachid stressed that this scout programs enable young Scouts to develop strong, responsible relationships, whether cementing old friendships or forging new ones, and also share each other’s cultures.

With the objective to enhance mutual fraternity among young people, Crown Prince Moulay Rachid also hopes to prepare young people to be responsible citizens and leaders of tomorrow, through the Scout movement.

A programme schedule of the meeting is from morning to night with several workshops and seminars on various issues for participants to learn about Morocco’s rich cultural heritage, its unique and captivating history and the lifestyle of its people.

The participants will have an opportunity to visit Rabat, Fes, Sefrou and Safi, and to make on-site studies of local specialties and resources, which might change their outlook and give them new perspectives.

The Scout Friendship Meeting also encourages more participation in the Scout Movement and teaches young people to honesty, respect, responsibility, fairness, and thoughtfulness, and to be a part of a brotherhood striving to make the world a better place, both today and tomorrow.
