Spotlight on the Moroccan Falconers Association Al-Noubala

Rabat, November 14, 2007 -- The Moroccan Falconers Association Al-Noubala was founded in 1983, by the Ministry of Agriculture on HM King Hassan II and his brother HRH Prince Moulay Abdallah initiative.

Today, the Association has honor to have the royal patron, His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid as its Honorary President. With His Royal Highness sponsorship, members of the Association believe they are obligated to give this ancient art of falconry a new face of modernity rooted in tradition.

The Association is dedicated to preserving, advancing and teaching the ancient art of falconry and conservation of birds of prey, its vigilant employment in the sport of falconry and to ensure the survival of an environment suitable for falconry.

What's more, the Association has an interest to educate and inform the general public on conservation of the birds of prey and the need to protect the environment in general and animal species in particular.

Furthermore, the Association promotes scientific study of the raptorial species, their welfare, care and training.

The Association is keen to use a diversity of programs to foster His Royal Highness’ vision for youth empowerment and to provide the young aspiring falconer an opportunity to truly excel at this ancient sport.

Recently, the Association has teamed up with the Italian Falconers Association to exchange experiences and take advantage of Italian techniques to improve Moroccans. The members of the Association also have intention to work closely with other European falconers associations.

The Association under His Royal Highness leadership is preparing for the Morocco's premier event of its kind, the Moroccan Falconry Festival, to preserve the heritage and achieve sustainable falconry in Morocco.

In addition, the Association has joined the international efforts and urges UNESCO to recognized falconry as “Intangible World Heritage Activity”.

A good thing that Falconry Moroccan Heritage, typicall and endemic to North Africa will hopefully have a chance to survive for future generations.
We know that Arab brothers from the middle east use Morocco as a dream land for their own practice of the Art of Hunting with birds of prey, but now it will be really good that Morocco does not only stay in the shadow of Arabian Falconry and demonstrate its own heritage.
I have been trying to ensure this for many years in Morocco but the lack of interest and igonrance have pushed me to quit my beautyfull homecountry for Europe.
We should not forget the new generations of Falconers by giving them a chance in life so they can be motivated to learn and perpetuate this tradition who have roots in Arab culture as well as in Islamic traditions.
I would be really interested to learn what His Royal Highness do effectively for Falconry in Morocco, not Arabian Falconry, bu for MOROCCAN falconry traditions.
