A word from the President

490073_599585Editorial His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid - President of the Foundation of the International Film Festival of Marrakech

At this sixth edition of the International Film Festival of Marrakech (IFFM), I look back on the journey covered since 2001 and I note with pride that cinematographic Morocco has changed, progressed and laid down the foundations liable to guarantee a sustainable development of our young image and sound industry.

IFFM has surely played and will yet have to play an important role in this process of development. And it is not by chance that the IFFM Foundation commits itself in an assured fashion in the way of diversifying its activities so that the festival is given a continuous impetus by initiatives which sustain, as a resounding echo, the magic moment that is embodied by these nine days of cinema and dream on which we meet again every year.

As the president of the Foundation of the International Film Festival of Marrakech, I call upon all those who love cinema and life to come and reinforce by their passion our young festival which, from now on, cannot be bypassed, since it is only together that we build up the future of our cinematographies.

His Royal Highness
Prince Moulay Rachid

Coming from this side of the world, I am not privy to HRH's live interviews so I can't compare like you did. Sad but true.

Then again, I helped write speeches for our local ministers before. They normally took a few hours to digest it, amended it here and there and then went on live interviews, making it sound like they wrote the speeches themselves (complete with extended issues and personal opinions). They even managed to sound so instrumental about it.

Smart ones normally pull this kinda thing very easily. Especially if they were lawyers before or lawyers by training, hehehe... It takes one to know one you see, hehehe...

But I take your words for it. Whatever I read about HRH, and yes, especially on cross-cultural and religious tolerance issues, did impress upon me that he holds very strong personal convictions for the change and, I must add for the latter, redemption. Being the reason why I started to follow his story in the first place. He is creating a huge landmark in world history.

So Alexandra, thank you for sharing your opinion on HRH's speeches. Very helpful insights.

I love his speeches they are very interesting. I was wondering, evaluating, analyzing for long time if he writes his speeches or someone does it for him. I would love to know for sure...If you listen to his interviews or when he is answering questions to journalists, you can see and feel many similarities between his speeches and talks.

He comes across as well versed on the themes he is discussing and he uses his ability to articulate calmly and with good and very warm sense and this coupled with his charisma and class makes a good impression on the eyes and the ears. I enjoy listening to his talk, he impresses me every time he gives interviews or speech, especially on cross-cultural subjects.

Prince Moulay Rachid is a seemingly a good leader who uses his intelligence to promote Morocco and working for peace and understanding between the west and muslims.

What an invigorating speech. Gripping, honest and goes straight to heart. If HRH wrote this himself, he sure has a way with words :-)

[Fact is, leaders like him normally have a team of speech writers, but I hope he wrote this one himself, it is too inspiring to be associated to anyone else but him - I am not making any sense, or am I? Hehe...]
