HRH Crown Prince Moulay Rachid concerned by devastating effects of rising food prices

Meknes, April 23, 2008 -- As Morocco opens its third International Agricultural Fair, the prices of range of agricultural commodities are on increase and countless of Moroccan families living on less than one dollar per day are burden between poverty and starvation.

In recent months, riots over soaring food prices have erupted in several Moroccan cities but police around the country were called out to put down any unrest.

“Police beat Mounir El-Ktaoui of the Arabic-language weekly Al Watan Al An, BBC stringer Mustapha Bekkali and Mohamed El-Hamraoui of the French-language weekly La Gazette du Maroc in the course of dispersing demonstrators protesting against food price increases outside the parliament building in Rabat on April 12th”, reported French-based organization Reporters Without Borders.

To alleviate the economic hardships citizens are going through, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay Rachid expressed needs for the government to take urgent action in order to avert a larger crisis, and improve and ensure access to food for all.

His Royal Highness also toured Agricultural exhibition on Wednesday where He was briefed on the products and agricultural equipment on display.

Morocco’s third International Agricultural Fair is being held from April 23rd to 28th in the city of Meknes, Morocco.

Meknes, April 22, 2008 - With certainly very demanding schedule, the energetic 37 year-old prince has wrapped up his final activity for the day in Meknes, after His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay Rachid chaired the opening of 55th CIC General Assembly in Marrakech and held meeting with Microsoft CEO in Rabat.

In Meknes, in an effort to raise the agricultural productivity capacity of Morocco, His Royal Highness commenced the first edition of the Focus on national agriculture, held on the sideline of the 3rd International Agricultural Fair.

His Royal Highness has stepped up to urge officials to expedite development plans especially in the realm of agriculture, to raise the agricultural productivity capacity in Morocco and to study the impact of climate change on agriculture.

Morocco’s third International Agricultural Fair is being held from April 23rd to 28th in the city of Meknes, Morocco.

HRH Crown Prince Moulay Rachid breaks grounds on 55th CIC General Assembly

Marrakech, April 22, 2008 -- His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay Rachid along with the International Council for Game and Wildlife Conservation (abbreviated CIC) Members, held Tuesday ground breaking the 55th CIC General Assembly under the motto “Hunting: a Tool for Sustainable Rural Development” at the Congress Palace of Marrakech, Morocco.

The aspire of the congress is to underline hunting’s privileged position in socioeconomic, cultural and recreational terms, but also its real integration to the national development plans, which aim at improving population incomes and creating job opportunities.

His Royal Highness expressed sincere joy upon the occasion of the official opening of assembly and wished the conference success.

His Royal Highness also thanked to all of CIC members for all the hard work and also to everyone who participated in the Congress Symposium.

His Royal Highness who plays a prominent role in enhancing conservation of wild fauna and flora with inter-state co-operation and at the same time empowering socio-economic development in Morocco, is also the President of the Royal Moroccan Federation for Hunting Shotgun Shooting, and Honorary President of Moroccan Falconers Association Al-Noubala.

The International Council for Game and Wildlife Conservation is a politically independent advisory body internationally active on a non-profit basis. With its renowned scientific capacity, the CIC assists governments and environmental organizations in maintaining natural resources by sustainable use.

Rabat, April 22, 2008 – Boosting a role of information technology (IT) in education and development of the Kingdom of Morocco, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay Rachid received Tuesday Microsoft CEO Mr. Steve Ballmer.

Collaboration between the Kingdom and Microsoft was at the center of discussions as His Royal Highness and Mr. Ballmer reviewed a number of developments with great prospects, which Microsoft plans to start in Morocco and region.

His Royal Highness and Mr. Ballmer also reviewed a number of interests, mainly Microsoft role to the growth of the educational sector with looking for solutions to the several emerging issues and challenges facing IT evolution in the region, including data protection.

During the meeting, His Royal Highness also underlined the keenness of commitment to continuing expansion of innovative and cooperative education programmes that support economic development opportunities, stressing the imperative investment in human resources and communication technologies.

For his part, Mr. Ballmer underlines appreciation for Crown Prince Moulay Rachid's leadership in ensuring promotion of the development of new information technologies and establishment of the knowledge-based economy in Morocco.

Microsoft Chief Executive Steve Ballmer’s visit to Morocco came after he paid the visits to Algeria and Tunisia in October last year, where he hold meetings with the Presidents Abdelaziz Bouteflika and Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, respectively.

HRH Crown Prince Moulay Rachid’s big heart has always vast place for children

42_logograndcoeurpteRabat, April 21, 2008 – To secure a better tomorrow for Moroccan impoverished children with the heart diseases, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay Rachid seeks to find solution with the Grand Heart Association by providing help to young patients who cannot afford health care costs.

The project of the Association aims to increase the availability of quality healthcare services and to integrate special needs children into mainstream society.

To date, under the leadership of His Royal Highness as an Honorary President of the Grand Heart Association, the Association has sent several children to France where they received comprehensive cardiovascular services, including life-saving heart surgery and interventional cardiology procedures.

Thanks to the sagacious directives of His Royal Highness, in December 2007, the thirteen years old Ishamisham has a successful surgery at the La Timone hospital conducted by Dr. Kreitmann. After spending seven weeks in France to repair his heart, Isham joined his family in Morocco on January 7th, 2008.

Highlighting the importance of continuing efforts to find a solution for the children in crisis and to provide competitive opportunities for children with a variety of specific needs, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay Rachid has initiated, directed, and sponsored a range of programs for children with health challenges to voice their concerns about their needs.

Casablanca, April 20, 2008 – His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay Rachid conferred Sunday in Casablanca with Pedro Verona Rodrigues Pires, the President of Cape Verde.

During the meeting, His Royal Highness and the President reviewed the global challenges facing Africa in addition to bilateral relations between the two countries.

His Royal Highness highlighted, during a meeting with the President of Cape Verde, keenness to boost the bilateral ties in the various fields on the basis of respect, equality and mutual benefits.

His Royal Highness also reiterated His support to address challenges facing the Africa, establish a number of developmental projects with aims to improve living conditions of its citizens and tackle problems of poverty and unemployment, lack of education and the gravest health crisis throughout the African continent.

His Royal Highness renowned for his philanthropic and diplomatic works to empower people, channels his efforts on behalf of development programs, which are supporting the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals and are directly related to the well being of present and future generations.

HRH Crown Prince Moulay Rachid pledges brighter future for disadvantaged children

20071108130957Rabat, April 19, 2008 – Under the Royal Presidency of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay Rachid, the Royal Moroccan Motorsport Federation organized the 15th edition of the Maroc Classic Rally from March 16th to 22nd 2008 with adopted motto “The Road of Heart”.

Under the auspices of His Royal Highness, the generous sum of 280.000 DH, which was collected during the rally, was presented to the Happy time (Heure joyeuse) Foundation for disadvantaged children.

The donations are part of larger projects of His Royal Highness to improve living conditions of Moroccan children and youth.

To date, the Maroc Classic Rally has collected almost 4 million Dirhams since it has founded its auction to support the Happy time Foundation eight years ago.

In response to these developments and to His continuing effort to provide disadvantaged children with meeting their needs, His Royal Highness is dedicated to supporting and advancing continuing to search for policy solutions for the childcare to end child’s poverty.

Rabat, April 18, 2008 -- On the occasion of the ninth dead anniversary of His Majesty King Hassan 2, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay Rachid observed a day of remembrance in spirit of solemnity, dignity, and reverence on Wednesday April 16th, 2008.

His Royal Highness recites verses of the Holy Koran at the tomb of his late father to give his respects.

His Royal Highness always pays rich tributes to his late father - a great leader of vision -for leading the Kingdom of Morocco towards real democracy, uniting Moroccan citizens to work together as one nation and making the country with its true international stature.

His Majesty King Hassan 2, the visionary founder of constitutional monarchy in Morocco, died on July 23rd 1999 at age 70 from a heart attack.

His Royal Highness‘ presidency over the 1200th anniversary of the city of Fes, came to reaffirm His special care and firm belief in the importance of preserving and developing awareness of Morocco’s rich cultural heritage and commitment to promoting its cultural richness and diversity.

Strengthening protection of cultural heritage, His Royal Highness - an ardent believer in the Alliances of Civilization - is committed to seeing that Fes City receives the attention it deserves, both nationally and internationally.

With these noble aims to revive the rich cultural heritage of the town, His Royal Highness at the same time seeks to promote local tourism and economy.

His Royal Highness also hope the 1200th anniversary of Fes will help young people to see and take action to be proud of their roots.

Le prince héritier du Maroc affirme que la question palestinienne reste au centre des intérêts du Maroc

Damas, 30/8/08 - Le Prince héritier du Maroc, Moulay Rachid, a affirmé que la question palestinienne restait au centre des intérêts du Maroc, affirmant que son pays trouve en l'initiative arabe de paix une option réaliste mais que les Arabes auraient à prendre les choses en main et à proclamer non pas seulement leur désir sincère de la paix mais encore la résolution de cesser d'attendre des solutions qui viendraient ou non.

Dans un communiqué distribué à la séance finale du sommet de Damas, réunie dans la matinée, Moulay Rachid a proclamé l'appui du Maroc aux efforts en faveur d'une solution consensuelle au Liban et affirmé la nécessité de la récupération par l'Irak de sa souveraineté complète sur son territoire et de conserver son unité terre et peuple, et de la fin du cycle de violence et de destruction dans ce pays.

Le communiqué affirme également l'appui du Maroc au processus de paix, d'entente et d'unité au Soudan, en Somalie et aux Iles Comores et son attachement à la conservation de la souveraineté et de l'unité territoriale et nationale de tous les pays arabes qu'il invite à surmonter les divergences et les discordes circonstanciels.

Moualy Rachid affirme que son pays poursuivrait sa contribution à toutes les initiatives destinées à établir une association arabe et à développer les mécanismes de l'action arabe commune, ainsi qu'à un ordre actif et renouvelable qui assurera les conditions pour une coopération interarabe, pour l'encouragement de l'investissement et la réhabilitation de l'économie et de l'homme arabes.

Le Prince héritier du Maroc a salué la Syrie pour sa bonne organisation du sommet, affirmant que son pays ressent la fierté de l'état des relations fraternelles sincères liant les deux pays et de leur appui commun aux justes causes de la nation et leur défense de la souveraineté et de l'unité nationale de nos pays.

Il a appelé à la conjugaison des efforts arabes pour affronter les grands défis que la nation affronte, rappelant que les divergences ne servent que l'intérêt des ennemis.
