HRH Crown Prince Moulay Rachid infuses substantial boost to the local economy

Benguérir, May 12, 2008 – Exerting efforts to curb poverty and unemployment, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay Rachid began visit to rural area of Benguérir, Monday, with a mission to activate role in developing the local economy, creation new jobs and revenue and encouraged the efforts of community's activism in the area.

During his visit to the area, Crown Prince Moulay Rachid will spend some time focusing on social development projects and creation of various types of projects in the future that will hopefully create more job opportunities for the youth.

Crown Prince Moulay Rachid is working hard to achieve the comprehensive development in various fields, which should have positive impacts on local communities, while strengthening the economic base of the country.

Search is underway for the most exciting new films

Marrakech, May 11, 2008 – Morocco’s leading Marrakech International Film Festival is now accepting submissions for its 8th edition, November 14-22, 2008.

The submission deadline for selection purposes is October 13th, 2008.

HRH Crown Prince Moulay Rachid gives green light to MIFF 2008

Marrakech, May 9, 2008 – His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay Rachid, Founding President of Marrakech International Film Festival (MIFF) Foundation, effectively gave the green light to 8th MIFF, which will take place in Morocco from November 14th to 22nd, 2008.

This decision was adopted during the Assembly of the MIFF Foundation Board of Directors chaired by Crown Prince Moulay Rachid.

His Royal Highness’ goals are to reveal emerging filmmaking talents from around the world with the attention on works of feature films quality, which contribute to societal evolution of the motion picture as a significant art form of our century.

His Royal Highness is also looking to encourage an increase in cinema-going for international cinema through an wide range of new ground-breaking films.

With the aim to celebrate the cinema of the past, present and future, the festival will present a range of retrospectives, tributes and “carte blanche” to leading figures of cinema.

The Sailing School for All, not available to youth before, is another jewel in the crown with the consistent support and patronage of His Royal Highness to youth in different fields that reflects on the important role of the youth in the society.

Tangier, May 3, 2008 -- To continue to create a viable economic effects derived from sport tourism, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay Rachid, the President of Royal Moroccan Federation for Hunting Shotgun Shooting, has hosted the Africa Championship of Universal Trench in Tangier from May 1st to 3rd.

The African sport men and women competed in the Africa Championship of Universal Trench for the prize of 100,000.00 DH.

The main aims of His Royal Highness is to raise and enhance the status and credibility of universal trench, as well as actively build bridges between different nations.

His Royal Highness also seeks to promote and defend issues of development of sport tourism as a viable contributor to the economic well-being of local communities.

His Royal Highness expressed hope the championship would achieve its objectives in enhancing developmental projects that would reflect positively on standards of living of citizens and generate a favorable boost to the local economies.

HRH Crown Prince Moulay Rachid baptizes Moroccan Classic 2008

El Jadida, May 1, 2008 -- Teaching understanding of importance of sport tourism through golf, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay Rachid delivered the sixth edition of Moroccan Classic Challenge Tour on the European Challenge Tour at the El Jadida Sofitel Golf Resort.

Initiated by the Hassan II Trophy Association, under direction of the Founder and President Crown Prince Moulay Rachid, the Moroccan Classic 2008 will be held in from May 1st to 4th.

The Challenge Tour is a breeding ground for the next generation of European Tour players.

Scotland’s Greig Hutcheon, when he shot a seven under par 65, took the lead on day one of the Banque Populaire Moroccan Classic on the European Challenge Tour. Hutcheon, is also seeking his second Challenge Tour victory on Moroccan soil after his win in the Banque Commercial du Maroc in 2003.

It also important to note, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay Rachid’s efforts on the local, regional and international levels are geared towards securing the variety of projects and initiatives.

Through his involvement in golf, His Royal Highness is helping to cement Morocco as a first world-class tourism destination with the number of significant golf tournaments in the elegant clubs brushed with modernity and inheritance that offers all imaginable services.

This testimony of how highly is regarded the importance of a golf development strategy for tourism and economic benefits as the efforts of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay Rachid in this regard became a model in the world.

The Moroccan Classic elects home for the next three editions (2008-2010) in El Jadida, after two editions in Rabat (2001-2003) and three in Agadir (2004-2006).

El-Jadida is situated on the Atlantic coast, south of Casablanca; has a very un-Moorish appearance and has massive Portuguese walls of hewn stone.
