Golf for all in Dar Es-Salam

Created two years ago under the instructions of HRH Prince Moulay Rachid, the first Royal Golf Academy of Dar Es-Salam already formed about fifty children, all coming from disadvantaged background.

Not a long time ago, the golf was generally perceived as a reserved sport for the rich ones. A sign of external prosperity. To play golf, one needed it to belong to an elite, to have a certain social status because it solicits a certain financial funds, which is not with the range of everyone. These last years, and more particularly in Europe, the golf started to open its doors to the classes at least easy.

In Morocco, a new experiment aiming to popularize this sport, already gives its fruit. It is a matter of the first Royal Golf Academy of Dar Es-Salam. Created two years ago, following the instructions of HRH Prince Moulay Rachid, the academy of golf currently accounts fifty children.

The objective of initiative was to allow young children, coming from disadvantaged neighborhoods, to be able to practice this sport. At first action, 200 children all coming from the peripheral neighborhoods of the city were concerned about this project.

Today, the technical national director Karim Guessous assisted by the two trainers Abdelaziz El Atrassi and Mohamed Klaoua supervises the fifty children who account the academy.

“It is HRH Prince Moulay Rachid who required of us to open to the underprivileged environments and to make it possible for these young children to practice the golf in order to discover young talents. HRH Prince Moulay Rachid takes closely care of the young children. Often, he visits them.

“I specify that the committee of club pledges also followed the school of young golfers and not only the evolution of their technical level of game”, declared Abderrahmane Bouftas, president of the Royal Golf of Dar Es-Salam. And to add that: " Moroccan Royal Golf Federation counts to generalize on the experience of the Royal Golf of Dar Es-Salam and see that the other clubs of the Kingdom sponsor young golfers coming from disadvantaged backgrounds ".

Handling easily the club (the stick of the golfer), the young children practice this discipline, while mixing with the visitors of the prestigious club who are in the majority from abroad belonging to the wealthier class. “We are proud to be sponsored by HRH Prince Moulay Rachid, who filled us with his generosity, we hope that we will be at the height of his confidence”, declares Sami Arhzaf, one of the young golfers.

At the time of this athletic season the young people took part in the Junior Challenge Tour Morocco and it is the young person Boutaleb Mohammed who was the first in the order of the challenge and at the time of Moroccan championships of Juniors, organized by the Royal Golf of Dar Es-Salam, this young golfer was classified third in the category of the youngest children (12-13 years) with 164 points.

On the juniors level, Morocco has a handle of young golfers able to ensure the changing. During the Arab Golf Championships, our young champions swiped the placements. The competitions were marked by the domination of the young Moroccan golfers, in all categories. And there again, the young prodigy Boutaleb Mohammed shined. He monopolized the second place in the category of the less than 15 years.

As a final note, the scenery of Dar Es-Salam is breathtaking.

Prince Moulay Rachid's contribution is remarkable in comparison and he should be greatly honoured for it.
