Prince Moulay Rachid dedicates new ISESCO head-offices

Rabat, May 03 - Prince Moulay Rachid, younger brother of King Mohammed VI, dedicated, here Wednesday, the new headquarters of the Islamic, Educational, Scientific and Cultural organisation (ISESCO) that is celebrating today its 24th anniversary.

    The ISESCO was set up in 1982 in Fez pursuant to a resolution of the 10th Conference of Islamic Foreign Ministers also held in 1979 in this north-central city of Morocco.

    The new ISESCO head-offices cover 11,253 M2 in the Rabat neighbourhood of Hay Riad (Madinat Al-Irfane) and are made up of two buildings: the first including meeting and conference rooms, while the second comprises administration offices.

           The ISESCO aims to strengthen cooperation among Member States in education, science, culture and communication, consolidate understanding among Muslim peoples and contribute to the achievement of world peace and security.

     Its objectives also revolve around fostering coordination among the specialized institutions of the Organization of the Islamic Conference  (OIC) in education, science, culture and communication.

     On the occasion, ISESCO Director General, Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri, gave Prince Moulay Rachid the “Ecu d'Or” for dialogue between civilisations.
